Courses
There are several types of courses available in the Sixth Form and we offer a wide combination of A level and Vocational courses. We also offer the Access Course a level 2 programme for students needing to retake English and Maths GCSE.
Students intending to study level 3 qualifications should have achieved a minimum of five 4-9 at GCSE, including a grade 5 English language and mathematics and at least a grade 6 at GCSE in a related subject.

A-Levels
A levels are linear courses. Each course is studied for ten periods per fortnight over two years. It is expected that all students achieve five 4-9 grades + the specific requirement of the course. The courses we expect to offer in the academic year beginning in September 2026 are:
Fine Art (+ grade 6 in Art)
Biology (+ grade 6 in Biology)
Business (+ grade 6 in Business if studied)
Chemistry (+ grade 6 in Chemistry)
Computer Science (+ grade 6 in Mathematics)
English Language (+ grade 6 in Language)
English Literature (+ grade 6 in Literature)
Environmental Science (+ grade 6 in Biology)
Film Studies (+ grade 6 in English Language)
French (+ grade 6 in French)
Geography (+ grade 6 in Geography if studied)
History (+ grade 6 in History if studied)
Mathematics (+ grade 6 in Mathematics)
Further Mathematics (+ grade 7 in Mathematics)
Media Studies (+ grade 6 in English Language)
Photography (+ grade 6 in Photography if studied)
Physics (+ grade 6 in Physics)
Psychology (+ grade 6 in Psychology if studied)
Religion, Philosophy & Ethics (+ grade 6 in English)
Sociology (+ grade 6 in English Language)
Spanish (+ grade 6 in Spanish)
Textiles (+ grade 6 in Textiles)
Three Dimensional Design (+ grade 6 in 3D Design or Art & Design if studied)
Vocational
All level 3 courses are two-year courses. Both employers and universities recognise Level 3 vocational courses as being directly equivalent to A level. Exams are taken throughout the 2 year course (coursework minimum 40%). It is expected that all students achieve five 4-9 grades + the specific requirement of the course. The courses we expect to offer in the academic year beginning in September 2026 are:
Applied Law (+ grade 4 in English Language)
Applied Psychology (+ grade 4 in English Language)
Business (+ merit/distinction at BTEC level 2 if studied)
Criminology (+ grade 4 in English Language)
Health & Social Care (+ merit/distinction at BTEC Level 2 if studied)
Medical Science (+ grade 4 in Biology)
Music (+ merit/ distinction at Level 2 Music if studied)
Performing Arts (+ grade 6 in Drama)
Sport & Physical Activity - Single (+ merit/distinction at BTEC Level 2 if studied)
Sport & Physical Activity - Double (+ merit/distinction at BTEC Level 2 if studied)
Access Course
The access course will be offered to students who have not achieved five level 2 qualifications, including Maths and English at grade 4 and above. The access course is comprised of the following courses:
English GCSE Retake
Maths GCSE Retake
Digital Media Level 2 (Vocational)
Public Services (Vocational)
Higher Project Qualification
Life Skills
Making Medics
At Felpham Community College, we have an excellent track record in supporting our students to become successful medical school applicants. Former students are currently studying at medical schools across the country from Exeter and Bristol, to Sussex and York. We also have a number of former students enrolled on BioMedical science and veterinary courses nationwide.

Extended Project Qualification
The EPQ is an A-level standard standalone qualification designed to extend and develop your abilities as you prepare for university or your future career.
It is worth half an A-level (28 UCAS points), and is recognised by universities and employers. Many universities will make lower A-level offers to students undertaking an EPQ, so it is worth completing The EPQ allows students to lead their own projects
