Double Course Vocational

Please be aware if you select the double qualification you must also take the single qualification.

The Level 3 technical qualification has been developed to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment in the sports’ industry.

The course is equivalent to two A level equivalents by the end of Y13. The Level 3 technical qualification has been developed to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment in the sports’ industry. Students develop professional and social skills through interaction with performers, clients and team mates. This will allow them to offer informed practical advice and guidance to the people they’ll be working with.

This specific pathway has been designed in collaboration with Sports Coach UK and a range of national governing bodies. This pathway will allow students to gain employment in roles such as activity leader, multi-sports coach or assistant club coach amongst many other roles.

  • The units covered include:

    Mandatory units, taught at the same time as the Single Sport - Body systems, Sports Coaching and Leadership, Sports Organisation and Development, Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation & Sport and Exercise Psychology.

    Double Sport Units; Working safely in sport, Organisation of sports events, Performance analysis in sport, Biomechanics and movement analysis, Physical activity for specific groups & Practical skills in sport.

    • Nutrition and diet

    • Sports injuries and rehabilitation

    • Sport and exercise psychology

    • Performance analysis in sport

    • Health and fitness testing for sport

    • Biomechanics and movement analysis

    • Physical activity for specific groups (practical)

    • Working safely in sport

    • Practical skills in sport

    In addition, practical team and individual sports will be taught over both years.

    This course has been accredited by QCA.

  • A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9, including English and maths and a merit/distinction at BTEC Level 2 if studied.
