Fine Art

Students have the opportunity to develop their art skills, techniques and knowledge. The focus is on drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture and they will use photography to record and extend ideas and research.

They follow a broad art course experiencing a range of materials and techniques and working in two and three dimensions. They work with increasing independence over the two years. The coursework and examinations require the creation of a substantial quantity of practical work, as well as an understanding and appreciation of the importance of other artists and designers. Students are encouraged to carry out independent research, and are strongly recommended to visit galleries and exhibitions in order to experience historical and contemporary art and design at first hand.
