Environmental Science A-Level

An A-Level in Environmental Science is a multi-disciplined approach to science which provides learners with the opportunity to study the world from multiple standpoints. A great accompaniment to biology, chemistry, physics, maths and geography A Levels, the course will enable students to develop the scientific understanding and practical skills needed to tackle many of the world's major environmental (and societal) problems such as climate change, food security, water resources, pollution and conservation.

Key Modules

The course comprises of these key modules:

  • The living environment

  • The physical environment

  • Energy resources

  • Pollution

  • Biological resources

  • Sustainability

Research methods will also be taught and assessed in the relevant modules through a combination of laboratory-based activities and fieldwork.

Exams

  • Paper 1: (The physical environment, energy resources, pollution, research methods) Written exam - 3 hours 50% of A level

  • Paper 2: (The living environment, biological resources, sustainability, research methods) Written exam - 3 hours 50% of A level

Entry Requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9, including a minimum of grade 5 in English and maths and at least a grade 6 or above at GCSE in biology for triple science students or grade 6/6 for combined science students.
