BTEC in Applied Human Biology
This qualification offers an alternative route to the traditional A levels, which are 100% terminal examination. This course is still academically demanding, however it allows students to study a range of units that are both externally assessed (exams) and internally assessed (extended projects).
Students will take 3 mandatory units, of which 2 are externally assessed as well as 1 of 5 optional units that is in the form of an extended project.
Some of the content students will study: Human physiology, applied human biology, microbiology, health issues and infectious disease.
Exams
83% of the course is in the form of the mandatory units and 17% is the optional unit.
58% of the course is external examination and 42% is extended project.
Entry Requirements
A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9, including English, maths and combined science / biology

Transition to KS5
